A lot of comments refer to what we wear when sunning on the beach or in the garden. Clearly all subscribers to this site agree the less the better. But what about the local swimming pool for regular exercise sessions?

At my local pool most of the ladies wear matronly one piece suits & the men usually wear dork shorts - ugh! I simply refuse to wear any suit that does not have string sides. All have pouch fronts that vary in size from unlined & low rise & barely adequate, to what can be described as full triangle. Back panels vary from 3/4 cover to a suit with a 3" maximum panel. On arrival I have a quick look at how busy, and the less busy the smaller the suit. I have never had any obvious reaction from anybody, and certainly not the pool staff.

I do most of my tanning and swimming at my local pool with occasional trips to the beach. When alone or with my girl, I usually wear a Solar Speedo. If I'm with the guys and/or other female friends, I wear light running shorts with the liner cut out over a speedo. The last month or so, I've started alternating into a Prevail Sport string bikini and a Speedo thong. I wish I could wear the string bikini every time I hit the beach or pool.

I wear a Dore front-back slide thong, with a sauvage bikini over. Both bright orange. Once in the water I remove the sauvage and adjust the slides.

At our local open-air "sea-side" pool, most men seem to wear swim-briefs in what the USA call speedo style, and the females a variety of one and two-piece swimwear.

I only wear a thong, and it gets no comment. At 68, there is a bit too much of "me" nowadays, but that doesn't deter me from my love of thongs. I've been wearing them for over 50 years now, and see no reason to change.... unless its for even smaller ones  - strings and pouches, when on the Continent!    My wife takes it in her stride - she's used to it

I wear small cut string side bikinis at any pool. Sometimes a micro cut (low cut small pouch front with 3" wide rear) to at the most a rio cut. I usually check to make sure there wont be any problem and to date have not been asked to leave or change. If I find a setting that my swimwear is not acceptable to them, I think is what I have really found is an atmosphere that is not acceptable to me so I dont go there. Have only been to one pool party to which I have felt out of place and that is the only time I have felt that way in years. As my post in the "Other places to thong..." heading, in the enjoying the Ariz sun post tells, although my wife and I felt out of place, that feeling may not have been shared by the other guests and that perception may have been totally ours.

Replying to flthonger, what is a sauvage bikini? I like the idea of strippingoff in the water!

I live in not a large gated community in Phoenix, AZ.  When I moved in here I was one of the youngest residents at 40.  In ten years, quite a few older people have either passed on or are now in assisted living .  The complex is changing with younger people moving in as places become available.   I am reaching the point  that I am giving some real thought to maybe wearing a thong during the day out by the pool.  (I usually do late in the evening when few people are around.)  People already know I have quite a variety of suits but have never said anything-except once.  I was wearing a cream crocheted bikini that was lined, but you had to get close to know for sure.  The snoop and major gossip of the complex came out looked directly at me and she had never seen a suit like that on a man and boy did she like the way it looked on me.  You coould have knocked me over with a feather as she walked away.

Anybody else ever have a similar dillema in multi housing?  How did you handle it?  Any suggestions will be appreciated.  I keep myself in good shape, so I can honestly say I still look good in a thong.  That is important to me if I subject my neighbors to having  to see my bare butt.

Thanks

I live in a caravan park and I only wear string side bikinis (5mm side or less), I will not wear speedo types swimmers or shorts.

I have not had any bad comments from anybody else using the park pool, I would really like to wear g-strings but after having made inquiries to the park management have been told they would not be acceptable.

Every morning I hop on my bycicle and go the the rock pool about 15 minutes away. I find it silly to dress up to go to the pool, undress when I get there, and dress up again to come back, to undress again to take a shower, so I just cycle in my bikini. Again I have never had any bad comments, except once a (male) car driver yelled "Put your pans on". All the women I see seem to like what I wear. I have worn g-strings to that pool (public pool) but then I went by car, and the life savers haven't said anything, although I avoid wearing g-strings during school holidays.

With regards to teeback269 biking to the pool.

I bike to the beach where I run in a thong.  It's close to a mile to the beach on a major road.  It dose have a bike lane.   When bikeing I wear a long tank top type T-shirt, allso called a running singlet.   Depending on the one I am wearing, it falls to the middle or lower half of my but.  This is about the point where the bike saddle takkes over.  Some are long enough to tuck the tail end in so that it is caught by the bike seat.  This cover up works well.  If you look , you can tell that I am only wearing a thong, but to the casual glance it just looks like a guy riding down the street and if they notice any thing about the way I am dressed it is the shirt and hat.

It feels normal to take it off at the beach, and to put it on for riding so I don't have to cary it.  I don't get the feeling that I am having to cover up, it's not like having to put on a pair of shorts.  To the casual observer it provides the visual clue that I am not naked.

Today, I said what the hell and went to the pool wearing shorts and a blue tactics thong underneath.  I almost chickened out half way there.  When I did get there,  it occured to me that it was to me to wear a thong and not worrry about it. I had wanted to ththis for the longest time.  When I unbuttoned my shorts and took them off,  it seemed like the most natural thing in the world to be standing attired as I was.

While I was out there the head of the homeowners association came by.  He's cool with it and wished we could go skinny dipping.  The person he was with probably had a stroke when she saw me.  I will have to find out what she said to him.  Even funnier was  that while I was out there a guy who is a real red neck sort came out wearing long grey work out shortsand got in the pool.  We were talking about general things.  I told him I probably would hear about what I was wearing from somebody.  His response was it was nobody's damn  business what I  or anyone else wore.

Well that was today, we'll see where it goes from here.

Last year I was living in an apartment complex.  I had been ill and decided what better way to pick up my spirits than to go out and lay out in the sun by the pool.  I was nervous at first because I didn't know the policy at the complex and it would be the first time around peole I would have to see on a regular basis.

I wore a small unlined thong- one of my most conservative suits under a pair of white shorts. As soon as I got there I streched out on the lounge chair and removed my shorts. It wasn't long before someone in the main office which overlooks the pool noiticed. Before long each of the girls in the office just had to take a smoke break on the balcony overlooking the pool. The world did not end. I continued wearing thongs at thepool without incident. The maintenance men often came out to the pool to clean the filters and the trash cans while I was sunning my buns. I didn't push my luck and only went out at non busy hours when I knew most kids wouldn't be at the pool. I often had people go out of their way to walk past me so they could get a better look.

Only saw two women at the pool in thongs over the time I lived there.  One side note. there was a maintenance man who lived on site who had a nice body with long hair. He would lay out in kahki shorts with the legs neatly rolled up. the last two times I was at the pool he was wearing very short lycra boxer smim suits. One was baby blue the other light yellow. Neither appeared to be lined and left nothing to the imagination.

I had a family delima and will start a new thread to discuss it later.

I am male, 55, and live in Renton, Washington and swim laps and use the hot tub at the Bally Health Club pool.  I would wear a thong, but the rules posted specifically prohibit them along with street clothes, etc.  As it is, I wear a Brazil-back suit.  Right now I wear a Sunup-Sundown  Brazil back in basic black with two-inch sides.  Back before I was a member, I swam in King County pools and was admonished by lifeguards if I wore a Brazil-back or other suit that did "not cover enough."

Most of the other people at Bally's wear very conservative swim suits because they are badly out of shape and know it.  Some fit men wear Speedo-types, but most men wear dork shorts.  I have not seen anyone save for one female European immigrant in a Brazil back or any swimsuit as brief as mine, but no one has said anything to me about what I am wearing.

I most dislike to wear new or expensive swimwear at any public pool because the chemical soup just eats it up.  Then the material grows thin and droops and become see-through.  The drooping is the worst.

I live in a 26-story apartment building in downtown Minneapolis. Our pool and spa are on the 7th floor in an atrium that's like a little tropical oasis. It's warm enough to go swimmng even in winter when it's snowing. In fact, on snowy evenings it's a beautiful, romantic spot. We have a lot of East Indians and Muslims, as well as quite a few students living here. Everyone dresses very modestly for swimming so out of deference to the prevailing norm the most extreme I get is an HE rio back bikini with very narrow front. The suit is split color, dark green and white, so it's partially transparent when wet.

Something very funny happened a few weeks ago while I was using the whirlpool. The thing I dislike most about so-called dork shorts is that they hang so low when wet because they hold so much water. A young man and his girl friend were using the pool. When it came time to get out the girl scrambled over the side, she was wearing a bikini, and the fellow followed, boosting himself up on the edge of the pool. As he climbed out his shorts, heavy with water, slipped off his ass leaving him buck naked. His girl friend jumped in to retrieve his suit which was floating away and he gingerly sank back into the pool. Once he had his shorts back on he used the pool's ladder to get out, a firm grip on the suit's waist band. Needless to say he was very embarrassed that someone else had observed his predicament. I've felt a little less exposed in my choice of swimwear ever since.

A swimming pool is a public place, at least for me, and with people fairly close to each other, so that affects things.

At local places where people are there to execsise by doing laps, I'm not wearing a thong. Usually a speedo style with 1" or 2" sides. I'd prefer to wear a string bikini, if it would be tolerated.

When traveling, I sometimes wear a thong, depending on the place.

My  choice of poolwear depends on which pool I'm at. If I'm at my health club pool, I usually will sport the speedo solar 1"suit. If I'm at a pool with a large number of people, especially kids, I wear the same thing. If I'm in a far-away, not-very-crowded pool, I will wear one of my skinz bikini suits. I own a few of their string bikini and rio styles. Either way, I'm not a big thong wearer, I've never meddled up the "balls" to wear one in a public pool.

Although all my friends, male and female alike, think it's 'weird' I can't stand wearing more than a speedo. When I was younger I swam competitively (I wish I'd continued!) so that was the norm for me and although I went through a period in my mid teens when I wore swimming shorts I can't stand them now... speedos just make so much more sense when you're swimming. If I'm on holiday, I'll wear a thong on the beach and thus, naturally, to swim in the sea. At hotel pools I'm yet to have the nerve to wear a thong... though I'm quite determined, so then it's either a 4" or 6" back bikini. At local pools here in the UK I'll wear a 1" side Speedo at the most or a japanese style low-slung speedo at the least. I've never had any adverse reaction of any kind in any of these situations... the one time I had a bad experience was when I phoned a local pool in advance and asked if thongs were permitted and, after clarifying the question, was told in no uncertain terms that they were not... I felt like they thought I was a sex offender or something!

When contacting a pool to see if thongs are OK do not use the phone. Phones are answered by the person who is lowest on the totem pole. They are probably running the front desk too and tend to shoot from the hip.

Try sending a letter or e-mail. The recipient will probably forward this up the chain of command. You are more likely to get a considered opinion. An opinion that will be in writing, and from some one that has more authority than the front desk or jerk on duty.

I think you are missing an opportunity if you don't ask. People generally respond to the situation based on the attitude of the people they have to deal with. Put your self in the Managers position. If some one comes over and says "You have a problem, there is a pervert flashing his but and waving his bulge in front of the kids." Then you know, you have a problem, there is a pervert and the person in your face wants you to deal with it. The outcome is probably predictable.

If on the other hand you are a manager and a smiling and polite person comes to you and asks if they can wear a thong at the pool. You are likely to think, this is a smiling, polite person who does not look like they will cause trouble. They respect me, they came to ask my permission. (I am a little manager, who, just like other people likes respect.)

Is the answer probably going to be positive?

They are dealing with a polite, respectful person who will abide by their decision. No one is complaining and it is not a perceived crises when the decision has to be made.

Is the answer probably going to be positive? Yes.

I usually wear my Skinzwear wet look black posing suit around family type beaches, and my Dore low cut black thong around clothing optional or secluded beaches.

I wish someone could make wet look fabric that has a longer life to it!

JM,

If you are in a location which has no laws against wearing a thong then it is legal. If you ask "can I wear a thong" then it gives the Management an opertunity to say NO. If you are told no ahead of time then you are liable. As long as you use discretion you should not have a problem

Think of it in another way. I think of the difference if Mark Roberts had, in a pleasant half joking manor, asked the ticket taker at the Super Bowl if streaking was OK. The ticket taker might have said, fine by me. And Mr Roberts would not be back in court for trespassing. Then again if the ticket taker had said "No way" the penalties he faces would not be any harsher than they are now.

I have pulled some outrageous stunts in my life because I got some one to say yes. I won't go into the details now but they were not thong related.

There is another factor at work. We know that if you have permission, even the guise of permission, you are more confident. Confidence is attractive. We have all seen some one who pulled of something we don't think we could have done. We say, that person has hutzpa or balls, look what they did or got away with. What we are really referring to is some one with confidence. You are more confident when some one has said yes, or "even fine by me".

It? often quite strange what you can do if you only ask. The other advantage with asking first is when you ask there are only two parties. You and the person you ask. Lots of smile, every one feeling good. Note that the problem third party is not in the equation at that point. You are more likely to get a positive decision before the complaining third party gets involved.

I think, when you look inward you will fined that not asking first just shows you wish to avoid the issue. you know the issue is there and you are running scared of offending people because you fear there complaints. It comes down to a lack of guts and courage to actually ask "Can I wear a thong".

Hey there,

In response to dayne, it seems I have a similar situation to you. I live in a small, non-gated HOA in S. Tempe, AZ with a community pool. Most nights all summer long I'll be out there swimming laps in a variety of thongs. I too have been wanting to lay out during the day. We have quite a few families with smaller kids so I've been hesitant most of the time. Until recently I typically wear speedo solar suits or tight square cuts during the day. A couple of weeks ago, before my leg was broken, I wore a Skinz Y-back out there and laid out for roughly an hour, and had no problems. However I didn't see anyone else while I was out there.

I've noticed that the kids are rarely out there before noon-1pm, and don't usually go back out to pool after 5pm. So I've been aware of the groups that are out there. Most of the time the older crowd is out at the pool... I've found that I've not had any trouble if I'm in the pool when people come out there... and last summer I found that our pool didn't get used all that much... so good for me I suppose. I just play it by ear with who is out there. Sometimes I'll even put a more conservative suit in my bag just in case I run into trouble, but on the whole this isn't a problem.

In response others on this board, I typically wear a 1" or 2" speedo if I'm at a health club pool.

Thanks,
-DT

I go to a family health club to work-out, therefore, when I go downstairs to the lap pool, I always wear one of my Speedos.  I took a chance and wore my newest solar Speedo suits that had about 1" sides and no one said anything, but I know that thongs are prohibited.  On the other hand, when I am outside in my backyard pool, which is privately fenced, I have no problem wearing my Speedo thong to sun in.

i like to wear regular bikinis that are not thongs to the pool.  there are a few exceptions though, i wear my thong swimsuits to the girls only pool parties but not when there are guys there.

the only time i wear thong swimsuits for sure is the health and fitness club.  they help me swim better and nobody cares because some of the other girls do it too.

What do you wear to the swimming pool?

Well several different types of suit depending on location.

If the pool is situtated in the UK. Then it is a pair of regular Speedos. I don't remember ever seeing a women wearing a thong bikini or regular bikini in a UK swimming pool. Usually it is a traditional swimsuit that the women wear. I don't think thonging in indoor pools for either sex is encouraged in the UK.

As for abroad I wear a thong 99% of the time. Reasons being it is great for swimming you can cut through the water like nothing else. You get a great tan which is probably the main reason people go abroad to sunnier climes. Me and my fiancee try to stick to resorts that don't have kids. I'm in my early 20's and her in the late teen's so we both prefer nice and peaceful surroundings. I think the attitude in places like Spain is more relaxed and everyone is less inhibited about what they wear. So it makes for great poolside thonging.

In Belgium some pools won't allow you to wear shorts, 'cause they're unclean.  People who walk in their shorts all day and then go have a swim.

So all men are in speedo's, some in bikini's, haven't seen anyone in a thong.

Our local pool was closed for several months due to reconstruction. I swim laps at 0800 in the lap lane side of the pool. The other half has kids swim lessons. I checked with the lifeguard and wear my one inch red solar bikini suit or my 2 cm red euro bikini. Thongs are specifically prohibited by county regulation. Because speedos are swimmers'  suits an effort by some old ladies to ban them was stopped. My next door neighbor is gone for the summer and allows me to use his pool so I wear a thong or g-string to swim and sun. Life in south Florida can be very nice.

If it's an indoor swimming pool, with lots of families and children around, like on the weekends when I take my son for his swimming lessons, I wear a traditional speedo.

If it's an indoor swimming pool, with mostly adults, like early in the morning when I go for swimming a few laps, I wear my string bikinis (3/4 back) or rios, or my string (1/2 inch) Andreas Cahling (bodybuilders' posing/swimming suit)

If it's an outdoor swimming pool, with families and children around, like e.g. families resorts, I wear my rios and string bikinis as well.

If it's an outdoor swimming pool, without children and mostly adults around, e.g. adults resort,  I wear my Dore LC thongs.

If it's at the beach, only my Dore LC thongs;  unless surrounded by lots of children, or by my father in law, then I would have to go back to the string 1/2...

I might sound weird, but I always link wearing thongs in public with sun exposure.  Even though 99.9 % of my underwear are thongs, I find it really difficult to be at an indoor pool, and wearing a thong if the sun is not shining on top of me.  Perhaps it's due to the still low acceptance of thongs being worn by men, but I can't help to think that wearing a thong not for sunbaking would be a bit of  "too much on the face".. .          And the same happens when I'm not able to wear a thong on a very sunny day at the beach or pool, I always end up rolling up or "wedging" my 1/2 inch string as high as I can while sunbaking lying on my stomach, I hate to ruin my thong tan line!!

I don't usually go to the swimming pool in my home town as I find the indoor swimming atmosphere very boring but I'm sure that if I did go for whatever reason I don't think I would have a reason not to wear my thong swimwear, after all its the only swimwear I own, although I would probably not feel as comfortable wearing them at a local pool as I do on the beach or a pool outdoors/on holidays and end up buying speedos or something a bit more conservative

What I have done in the past, is I will just go to the pool wearing non attention getting swimsuits, usually some sort of rio back suit. I will observe what the woman are wearing and if I see woman wearing thongs then I will go and change into a thong also. If the pool manager asked me to leave because of me wearing a thong then I will demand that the woman are removed also. Since they are mostly public pools, I don't think the city or the county wants a discrimination lawsuit brought against them.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool?

I've never worn a thong at an indoor pool in the UK. I do usually go at least for a speedo type suit- perhaps with about one inch sides, or a Hom micro bikini, again with about one inch sides. I have occasionally worn my Intersptarta Rodas briefs to the pool - these have barely a half inch at the sides, and sit very low on the hips with about half to three-quarters coverage at the back. That is about as daring as I would go any municipal pool in the UK. At the health club or hotel pool, I have occasionally worn a bikini style suit with string sides, but always with at least about 'rio' coverage at the back. I have never seen men or women wear thongs in these situations in the UK, so I gauge it to be inappropriate to push it that far.

I find you can be a bit more daring at some outdoor pools in the UK. At one outdoor pool I used to visit in Cambridge UK, I started out on my first few visits wearing a rio-style bikini with string sides (abotut half coverage at the back), but when I saw some of the local girls sunbathing topless, then one turning up in a one piece thong swimsuit, I thought I go a bit further  and wore an Intersparta kra thong (this has just a very small triangle at the back- the butt is virtually completely exposed) for sunbathing - no problems. For walking aorund or swimming, however, I would slip on something a bit more modest.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool?

A few years ago our family joined a private pool that had over 750 registered guests.  At the time I was about 43 years old and in very good shape.  I used to swim laps during the adult time in a one inch speedo.  When the pool opened to all age groups at noon, my wife wanted me to put on board shorts.  I accomodated my wifes wishes even though I would rather be wearing something smaller.  On vacations my wife and daughted always saw me in a bikini.  One morning during the middle of summer a group of three ladies 40 to 45 came up to me and asked me why I put on those ugly board shorts after swimming my laps.  I told them my wife wanted me wearing board shorts at a family pool.  The women laughed and could not believe my wife was worried about a one inch speedo being too small.  Other women were wearing very small bikinis.  The women told me they loved my one inch speedo bikini.  All the women were happily married and wore bikinis or two piece swimming suits while lap swimming.  The women said told me that they wished all the men that were in good shape would wear bikinis.  They hated board shorts on men with good bodies.  The one inch speedo was perfectively acceptable attire for men according to the middle aged ladies at this pool.  They were not the only women that commented very positive on my bikini at the private pool.  I kept my bikini on I much as I could after swimming laps, even though my wife hated it.  This created problems with my wife.  She felt everyone thought I was gay even though I had a wife and daughter.  I found that more women were acceptable to men in bikinis if they themselves were in good shape.  A healthy womens body makes quite a difference in attitude when it comes to accepting men in bikinis.  In all my years of wearing bikinis and minimal swimwear, I received only three negative comments from women.  All three women were overweight and expected everyone else to cover their bodies to make them feel more comfortable and not out of place.  Since we no longer belong to the private pool, I miss swimming laps with women that made my time swimming laps at the pool positively memorable.

Reply to stringpe,

You'd have thought that, using brilliant logic, that a women would WANT other women to think her husband was gay.... That way other women would be less likely to make a pass at you.

This makes me think your wife had another other agenda, one that she was not prepared to disclose.

First she may have thought you looked too good. Therefor wanted you to cover up so as not to attract the attention of other women. Then maybe not -- because she did not mind you wearing a small suite when it was adults only.

Or she could have been annoyed that you got more attention than her.

Possibly she sees your swim suit as something sexual, and therefor thinks it should not be seen around children. Funny to think of a man's suit as sexual while the women in a bikinis are not.

I hope it was not because 'You are but an ornament in her life.' I hope that you are not just the perfect manly husband to go with her perfect suburban car, perfect kids and pretentious life.

Maybe you should say "I will wear long baggy shorts if you will wear a one piece swim suite with an attached skirt that comes down to your knees."

there's always been a huge difference in the attitudes of thongers depending upon where you live. i've noticed that the texas, florida, california, and arizona folks tend to be much more open minded, obviously due to their location. i've thonged all over the place, never given it much of a thought in texas and florida, but was presented with a unique situation this past summer which might help some folks up north.  i was in the midwest, where the attitudes are supposedly much more conservative, and i was somewhat reluctant to wear a thong.  my approach was to find a more quiet area of the apartment complex  ( they had several pools) and to start slowly, much like i did when i first started thonging. well, if you think you're a little bit of a novelty in the big southern cities, try being the only guy in a mid sized town in the bible belt! what i did was to politely ask a few ladies around the pool to guage their reactions. everyone said "no problem" and i decided to let loose! i did this for about 3 weeks straight, and developed a group of women who would routinely come out and lay out with me! my favorite was a 60 year old lady that wound up laying next to me just about every time! i think everyone's a little hungup on the inhibitions surrounding thonging. it's just not that big of a deal. pick your crowd carefully, and then go for it. i don't think it matters that much where you live...you'll find that other people aren't nearly as worked up about it as you are, particularly women.

I hope this is not wandering off topic too much.
I think Stringpe made some good observations and deductions.
My wife had already a dislike toward small swimgear because of her upbringing in a macho world (Italy and South-America). In the early, when we just had met, I was tolerated to wear bikini and tanga type gear. She had then a good figure.
Because she just tolerated this and made every time negative remarks, I refrained from wearing this.
A few years ago, I recovered the very small swimwear again (on Internet) and my urge to wear skimpy swimwear was there again.
In the meantime, my wife had gained weight and is very unhappy with it. I have stayed almost the same. So when my wife found out about me, wearing thongs and strings, hell was loose.
The comments were very familiar: it is not manlike, it is for gay people, it looks disgusting, everybody can see my manhood, it looks like I am inviting other women or gay men, etc,

I wear one of two bikinis swimsuits at the pool.

First is a Dee Jay of Australia lycra unlined brief in royal blue.  It has 1 inch sides a lose rise and a full back, and is really comfortable and cool looking.

Second is a turquoise brief by Gazelle of New York, with half inch sides and a very low rise, but with a small front lining.  It just covers the necessities, but feels superb to wear, and gives maximum tanning possibilities.

I have my own pool at home, so at home the Dore micro gets the nod.  For those "public" situations, in past years, I have favored a Dore bikini with a six inch back, and 1/4" or 1/2" sides.  This year I resolve to wear four inch back bikinis at least a few times in public -- and maybe even a Dore three inch.

I wear a Kiniki 3/4 back most of the time but sometimes a Hom Thong. both black so appropriate for length swimming. No problems with the thong so far.

Replying to John from London and others

Try looking at Ritchie Swimwear. They only do three styles, full back, Ritchie back and thong, all in a very light weight materiial with front lining. The Ritchie back is the same width as the front and it's a great style this side of a thong. The sides are not string but are only about 1/2" wide and it can be worn straight across the hips hipster style or pulled up slightly over the hips depending on your shape.

I have had no comments at the Leeds health club where I swim regularly, 3-4 times a week,

Like most observers, the other swim suits are mostly dreadful. Men, mostly young,  in shorts down to their knees, women in low leg cut one-pieces. There are, however, a few ladies who swim seriously in small string sided bikinis which makes a change, but no thongs seen yet. The Ritchie back swim trunks I wear are definately the smallest in the place over the last 4 months.

I wear thong underwear and have done for fifteen years and don't feel any embarrasement in the changing room (or at the hospital when doing physiotherapy and was asked to strip down to my underwear!).

As it's an adult only health club, I am sure I could wear a thong but want to loose another 14 lbs first! (To add to the 30 already lost since I joined).

Small, tight swimwear is by far the most comfortable to wear and swim in. I have worn thongs on the beach in Singapore of all places and would love to wear regularly. And I am definately NOT gay!

Reply to JM Runs.  Unfortunately I probably am my wifes ornament that you described.  When we were both single, I always whore a bikini when swimming.  No more than a one speedo at public pools.  At beaches we both wore rio cut swimwear.  After getting married we both whore either rio cut or thongs.  After my daughter was born my wife decided she was a mother now and mothers are not sexual creatures.  She then decided to wear modest two piece swimwear and I always whore a one inch speedo in front of my daughter.  My wife didn't like the speedo, but I am not ashamed of my body and I wanted my duaghter to get a positive image of a man's body.  There is nothing wrong with a man's body despite what some women preach.  When my wife and I were alone I would wear a rio cut or a thong.  My wife thought I would grow out my liking bikini swimwear.  She told me that women hates bikinis on men.  From my observation with other women that just isn't true.  I can count around 35 women that specifically stopped to tell me that they liked my swimming suit.  My wife has said that a man wearing a bikini is sending a sexual message.  I am not trying to pick up other women, I'm married.  Being married doesn't mean you can't show your body in a bikini.  Most men admire women that look good in a bikini.  They don't care if they are married, if it makes them feel good go ahead and wear the bikini.  If they are also married don't hit on them and leave them alone and just enjoy the view.  I do not wear a bikini to pick up other women.  I wear a bikini it because it makes me feel good.  I am proud of my body and not ashamed to show it.  By the way the wife has a new house, new car, large diamond and doesn't work outside the home.  I told the wife that I will continue to wear what makes me happy.

Reply to stringpe,

It sounds like you folks have some issues to be worked out. Relationships based on mutual trust, friendship and support tend to be more stable than ones based on 'negotiated' or traded benefits.

If you find that you are in a traded benefits situation, or the issue of "you just wear that to attract other women's attention" comes up.... One way to defuse the tension is to pay massive amounts of attention to your partner when in company and in a thong.

There is a green hereon that comes in my back yard. If I open the back door he will go totally still, hoping if he does not move I will not notice him. Same with most men in thongs, they sit still, and if looking around tend to do it furtively. This does not go over well with the female partner.

My advice is to only have eyes for your partner. That means facing them. And only have time for them. Sensuously rub suntan lotion - on them.

They say "Don't do that, people are looking" but what they are really thinking is "Other women are jealous of me, they envies me!" and "Oh that feels good, don't stop". Just to keep up an appearance of property they will, between mummers of delight, say stop, but they don't mean it. If they did they would not be lying there.

Be possessive and romantic, kiss her long and hard. Touch her and be madly, publicly, in love again. That show other women she is queen and you have eyes for her only.

The good thing about doing it publicly is it is a real turn on and tease because they know you cant go all the way. Public intimacy sends waves of communication, about your devotion to her.

My present girlfriend loves to get a massage on the beach. Sometimes she will smile and point out other women who are watching or jealous. I, of course, pretend not to notice, for I only have eyes for her..... No mater what cute thing walks by topless.

Think Queen of Sheeba, waited on by half naked male slaves. She gets to be queen, she gets the foot rubs and all. When was the last time you gave a real good massage. Well it will be a better one in the sun. Remember, be a good slave and don't look at another women, or you will have the skin flayed off you.

The side affect of massaging some one one the beach is that you cant avoid pointing your but at the sun !! Get them to lay out with their feet to the sun, head away. (Always do that when on the beach)

At the winter swimming pool I wear a string side bikini. But I am waiting for the summer to go to the open air pool where I can wear my thongs without any problem.

There are 3 different pools and the medium one is very open mind. People can wear almost what they want and you can see many thongers.

Keep thonging

It depends on the pool and the situation. Here in the South thong bathing suits are not at all uncommon. I have been to two pool parties this summer and both times I wore my Burberry plaid string bikini. It is skimpy but has full coverage. However when I was in Las Vegas this spring I had no problem wearing a thong at the hotel pool.

At our own pool it is a different story. For example, my sister and her husband and kids were over yesterday and none of us wore swimsuits at all. My husband and I swim laps before work most mornings and we always do so in the nude, and my four year old daughter has never once worn a swimsuit.

We hosted a Sunday brunch and swim party at our house in June. We do this several times each summer and I often wear a thong. But this time I had invited several of my employees and I wasn't so sure I wanted to be so exposed around them (especially the guys). I decided what the heck and wore a thong anyway . Well, we threw another party two weeks ago and two girls who las time wore conventional bikinis, showed up in thongs this time. It just goes to show that I think more women will wear thongs, they just need to see that is "OK."
