Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:10/02/2013 03:06:08Copy HTML Brian: you are only on this planet once so don't waste it! Maybe try something which to me is mainstream such as a Snyder Kini or Jovana moderate bikini. Just don't worry what others may think - it's your life!! Anyway will all that gang all go to the beach together & at the same time?

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:10/02/2013 03:24:08Copy HTML Thanks for the motivating words. To answer your question, I'd envisage that we may all go to the beach together but not certainly not every day. My M-i-L is not a beach person, more of a cultural tourist. If I can get the logistics right, maybe the first session by the pool or at the beach will just be me, my wife and my daughter which will ease the situation.
There's also the possibility of making my public thong debut alone in a hotel when I am away for work or possibly on a short city break with only immediate family between now and next May when the Menorca trip is planned. |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:10/02/2013 03:56:58Copy HTML Wear what you want and feel comfortable in, especially around family. Sounds like your immediate family will be accepting, so that might be a beginning point. Your brother-in-law and fiancé are an unknown factor, so you might try a Japanese low cut bikini with a rio back to start.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:10/05/2013 12:35:07Copy HTML My daily lap swims are at a pool where a thong really wouldn't do, so I rotate among a half dozen or so Speedo Solar 1 bikinis. One of those is (was) white. My unhappy discovery was that the bromine in the adjacent hot tub irreversibly turned the white Speedo to a dirty yellow. Be warned. Speedos are too expensive to louse up.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/28/2014 05:53:59Copy HTML I wear regular black speedos with the lining cut our to our local indoor pool. Gives a feeling of almost swimming nude. Really sheer and light. I am careful when I get out of the water as usually the fabric is sticking tightly to my equipment showing off all the form. Just have to let a bit of air get between me and the fabric and all's O.K. It instantly stops the fabric sticking to and showing off my equipment. I'd be happier though if I could swim nude.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/28/2014 08:32:12Copy HTML My wife and I stayed at a hotel last weekend and I wore my Joe Snyder Clip bikini to the pool. I normally wear a thong but since there were kids around, I went conservative. I'm really liking this suit because while it provides a tiny bit of coverage before getting into the water, it quickly disappears between the cheeks to become a thong with a little bit of movement. I went naked in the steam room.

For the city pools I am usually in a Skinz skinny side Rio or Sun Seeker, or a Cover Male enhancement Rio, or one of my other similar style suits. I have a square cut for water parks. Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:01/03/2015 01:17:55Copy HTML I generally ask whether thongs are allowed. If so, I will wear a very low cut thong at first and then graduate to a G-string if I think it to be appropriate. I generally reserve my more extreme suits for a beach that I am comfortable with. If thongs are not allowed, I will wear a very low rise Japanese type with a rio back and observe the reaction. I haven't had ozthong's experience of being told a rio back is too risqué.

Ozthong.
Are you in Sydney? Only reason I ask, is that I have swum laps in numerous Sydney pools (nearly 300 days total) in a 25mm side cossie with zero problems. Not sure if you'd call it a rio or a brazil back, but it's noticeably smaller than the briefest Speedo. Never heard a negative comment from anyone. I sun in a g-string, but like a bit more support for laps. Very approximately, at one third of the pools the g-string was accepted anywhere all the time, at another third in less crowded areas all the time, while the remaining third were only a problem on the day (and only that day) somebody complained or in only a couple of pools banned outright. Even at the last mentioned pools the rio was a perfectly acceptable “cover up”. I never worry about attracting unwanted attention from lifeguards. With the rare exception they basically just don’t care. They only react if someone complains and even then I suspect at some pools they have either rejected the complaint or tried to talk the complainer around. Bmicro. Unless there are special circumstances, I won’t ask whether a g-string is allowed. In view of what I’ve said about lifeguards’ attitudes, I've concluded there is nothing to be gained by asking them, but plenty to lose if they start looking for the rule book. Reckon leave well enough alone. Furthermore if a lifeguard asks me to 'cover up' because someone has complained, I have no qualms about going back to that pool and sunning in a g-string on another day. Whereas if I'd asked for a ruling and been knocked back then that's it. Perhaps your lifeguards aren’t as easy going as ours. |

I agree with not asking if a thong or g is allowed or not, why draw before hand attention on something that is very likely to be ignored , it shows an implicit guilt on wearing a thong. |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:01/04/2015 05:52:23Copy HTML
Randy and I used to ask a lot if thongs were okay, but ask less and less as we age and become more comfortable in what we are wearing. We will ask via e-mail or perhaps a phone call and often place this call weeks or even months in advance if we are going some "new" place or planning a trip and want to stay at thong friendly places. For example, some commercial hot spring facilities in the Western part of North America are thong tolerant or even thong friendly, but many are not. The last thing we want to do is drive hours to a new place and be told to cover our buns when we arrive.
In the USA there are places you probably can get away with a thong more easily (near a beach area for example) and some that are less thong friendly (such as a very conservative place). Thonging in a public pool -- one run for members of the community rather than as part of a resort or hotel or motel or health spa probably is more likely to not be thong friendly. While some public pools are privately run, more and more at least in our area are run by government agencies, and these seem less thong tolerant in general than private places sometimes are. Surprisingly, we have found that some places that have both and indoor and outdoor pool will permit thongs outside but not inside. We always assume this is because of the tanning opportunities. The public pool where we go summer and winter still is thong tolerant even after many years. A similar pool in a somewhat classier part of town stopped letting people wear thongs after a newspaper article mentioned that thongs were worn there, and there was a sudden increase in the number of thongers showing up. Apparently, they didn't mind dealing with a few complaints and comments when there were only a few thongers a week, but when others started complaining on a daily or even hourly rate, they gave up on trying to accept the thongers and found it easier to just eliminate thongs on all people. This also explains why we often don't ask first. If the establishment has no thong policy or only a weak one, they probably have not thought much about thongers and how to deal with them. Asking sort of forces an instant judgement which will usually (unfortunately) side with those in the mainstream. However, with more and more almost thong bikini styles coming in women's swimwear, maybe at least women will be given more freedom to choose a thong. Unfortunately, men probably won't be as accepted until women (again) are accepted in their thongs at most places. Traci |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:01/04/2015 05:54:06Copy HTML I never have worn a thong in a public swimming pool. The chance on negative comments in a public pool is, in my opinion, much higher then on a not to crowded beach. I don't want to have discussions with a lifeguard or other people visiting the pool. That's why I always wear a bikini with a rio back and 1/2 sides (like a DORE moderate cut). I have never had any complaints about wearing this minimal swimwear.

Good point ozthong. My "one third of the pools the g-string was accepted anywhere all the time" are mostly those that have lots of sunbathers in summer. I feel that, even in a g-string, one tends to blend in with some of the briefer female bikini bottoms.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:01/05/2015 05:16:33Copy HTML Randy has a suit we call his "almost a thong" that we had made for him. It has the narrowest RIO back and is about 1-1/4 inches wide most of the way up the back. This means that unless absolutely perfectly aligned, it slips between his buns and for all practical purposes has become a thong. When this suit is adjusted right, it barely covers his buns at all. Still, it is sufficiently large for most places to accept even when the "no thong" rules are applied. Once past the entrance, Randy rarely "checks" to see if it is covering right, and it almost always has become a thong by the time he goes home. Funny thing is that only a few times has anyone ask him to adjust his swimsuit after he gets into the pool area. I don't know why places that offer thong swimwear do not offer suits along this line -- barely more than a thong, but significantly less than a RIO.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:01/10/2015 10:59:10Copy HTML I make a difference between swimwear for beach and swimwear for swim laps. The swimwears are different. To make swim laps, you need a strong swimwuit, chlorine resistant, etc. However a resistant swimsuit can be sexy. I notice that women have a lot of choice of sexy swimsuit which are chlorine resistant : rio back, cheeky back that are next to be thong. There is a lot of little "swimwuit company" which offers this styles for women.
Unluckily, men don't have this ooportunity. This company don't offer sexy swimwuit to do swim lap. There is little company that offers rio style or cheeky style for men, and it is rarely made for swimming (no chlorine resistant, not lined, no drawstring, or bulge style that is not appropriate for public swimming pool). So, my post is like a demand : please, offer to men to have sexy swimwuit for lap swimming : rio style or cheeky style ; chlorine resistant (only PBT...) drawstring lined in the front classic front (no torpedo style). |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/04/2015 11:08:15Copy HTML I swim laps every morning ie; 6:00am
My standard choice is a Waveline 1" side bikini. They are built every bit a good as Speedos, have a drawstring and are lined in front. They are reasonably low-rise, and the lighter colours are opaque in the rear when wet. These are among the smallest I've ever seen any male wear for lap swimming, and the most I ever wear. The only comments I ever get are about the colours (I have everything from black to white and very bright flouro greens/pink/yellow etc), and one older guy asked me where I got them as he liked the cut/style. Never a complaint. I have worn thongs to swim laps in on many occasions, usually if the pool is a little quieter. This has never drawn a comment from patrons or staff no matter where I've been. I have asked if they are acceptable on two occasions only (once each at the two pools I most frequent) and both times been told 'Yes'. I still don't feel as though I can wear them 100% of the time, not sure why. I never use the pool to sunbake. I do that at home around my own pool, or at the beach. That's always in a thong. |

Thongmad,
What's the back style on the Waveline? I'm after something to replace the defunct Alphamoda Skyros 'brazil' back I've always used for lap swimming. Bought a 1.5" side AussieBum but was disappointed with the 'full' back. The Waveline web site doesn't appear to exist anymore so no help there and Accentix on eBAy only has six items, none briefer than a regular Speedo style. Also seems a bit pricey at around $50 compared with the AussieBum at $30. Is this what you paid? |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/09/2015 05:41:35Copy HTML Gra, the Waveline would definitely not be a rio-back, but only slightly slimmer, not as full as a Speedo or AussieBum.
You have to keep checking back on Accentix, they only appear sporadically. Once an auction finishes (with many items listed at once) all goes quiet for a few weeks, and then they appear again. |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/16/2015 09:23:15Copy HTML It depends mostly on the people and partly on the lifeguard. If there are children I almost never wear a thong. And if the lifeguard is female and the pool isn't very busy, I wear a thong; women just like to see reasonably fit men wearing less not more, and thongs are a thrill for them. If the lifeguard is a hetero male (almost never possible to tell without gaydar, which i don't possess), I rarely thong. But if the the lifeguard is male and has been very friendly, i.e. not effeminate but has an open-minded vibe, I might go for a thong. I've had acouple of complaints about my suits (often thongs and G-strings in the early days) there over the years. It has always been women with kids or women concerned about that. Interestingly, they have only complained about my bottom exposure, never about my near-zero front pouches, which are often so low a sizable mound is bare right at the base of my penis.
This evening I swam at my local gym club pool (part of a hotel) which is usually not crowded in the last hour, but I didn't know the lifeguard so I wore one of the tiniest Rios I have, either a Koala or California Muscle suit. I think it was a Koala, it has a tiny 4" x 4" triangle in the back tapering to just a string at the anus, as well as a bare triangle at the top of the pouch in front: a really fun suit! The triangular opening in the front tempts my equipment to rise above when aroused, but I kept it under control. It's super-stretchy, so once in water i yank the front down to almost nothing and the back wedgied wayy up into a completely bare-bottomed position. It makes swimming very stimulating! He gave me a smile at the end so it's thong the next time :) . There were a few young women staying at the hotel; they each gave my big smiles and a "have fun!" when they passed me at closing, catching a full glimpse of my bare rear. Many suits I have are a very transparent baby blue or yellow when wet, I just stay modest with my hands for a few seconds after leaving the pool to reduce exposure. |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/16/2015 09:05:41Copy HTML
I’ve been to 23 ‘Olympic’ pools in and around Sydney and
found that there are a large number of variables that affect whether a pool
will be thong (in my case g-string) friendly at any given time. And even when you’ve
been to the same pool dozens of times without the slightest problem and think you have it all worked out, someone
complaining can still upset the apple cart.
The couple of generalisations that I can make from approximately 300 visits to such pools are different from thonger1984’s. Different part of the world, different experiences? 1. I’ve actually found lifeguards are pretty consistent regardless of whether they’re male or female, young or old, talkative or quiet (wouldn’t have a clue if they’re gay or not). Until somebody complains they simply don’t care. 2. Women with kids are NOT the ones who complain. I digress here, but if there is such a thing as a typical complainer it will be an older guy there on his own on behalf of children who wouldn’t even register my presence. If there is a complaint, those large number of variables come into play in determining what action, if any, the lifeguard takes. Sex or age of the lifeguard does not appear to be a significant variable. Only one other comment, that being about wearing something that it was felt necessary to cover with hands when first leaving the pool. This suggests it’s the wrong choice for that location. |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/17/2015 06:29:55Copy HTML Grabeach, our experiences might have been more similar than I let on. I never heard the complainants directly, but was told that they were women concerned about kids, but they might not have been the mothers. And since the male lifeguards were the ones who heard the complaints, I was more wary in their presence. I did wear a too-revealing suit a couple of times outdoors, it had the tiniest g-string back and revealed more than I realized (I have a small, lean bottom.) The female guards simply were more comfortable with my suits, but one of the male guards enjoyed them and the others never made a fuss aside from getting a complaint, which they handled nicely. My thongs seem to be finally gaining acceptance, everyone talks to me.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/17/2015 06:51:33Copy HTML I forgot to mention that when I'm at a hotel pool that I don't frequent, i.e. out of town, I always wear a thong or G-String unless it's jammed with kids. I get more good vibes from not only women but most men these days: they are intrigued, and will ask me questions, but not specifically about my suit. It's a great feeling. In a few weeks I'll be skiing at a resort with a large indoor/outdoor heated spa pool, and I never even bring a rio. It's a gstring at first then I can usually peel it off to skinnydip at night, the water gets dark and there are very few guests then. One of the staff spotted me nude and even offered to bring me a drink! I should have accepted, he was very handsome and wanted a longer look. I go for tie sides a lot these days because of the feminine look and the one-size-fits-all aspect. Even the tiny chinese suits work then, and become pleasantly tiny. The triangles of material almost disappear between my legs!

I've had a 100% success rate at the half dozen or so large hotel pools I've worn a g-string. My theory is that the staff you see are only interested in doing their shift and going home and the guests are all visitors so wouldn't know what type of swimwear is acceptable at that location.

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:02/20/2015 02:03:00Copy HTML It's funny, I have several JS Kinnys (was called the "Kini") and they are my most conservative suits! Well, except for the Capri, which is more comfortable. I love string sides so prefer the look of the Kini. They have tanga backs but I'm comfortable wearing them anyplace.
Grabeach, you are right about big hotel pools: "I've had a 100% success rate at the half dozen or so large hotel pools I've worn a g-string. My theory is that the staff you see are only interested in doing their shift and going home and the guests are all visitors so wouldn't know what type of swimwear is acceptable at that location." I had forgotten all about the fact that I too have *never* been hassled in a hotel pool for wearing a g-string, and I've worn some tiny ones. The one I mentioned earlier was actually an adjustable tie-side thong, it had 3/4” wide material around the hips and butt. So this time I’m going to go all the way, a really tiny g-string with a crocheted pouch. Search Ebay for these items, for some reason I can't post a link, but I have a quick selfie in my image gallery. MENS CROCHET THONG WITH STRING TIE SIDES Made by crochetswimwear WOW! If you've never worn a crocheted micro-suit, look out! It feels like less than nothing, it conforms perfectly. The strings are almost invisible, just 1/8" wide. And when you move...it's not like any other suit I've worn. It's like having your package gets personal attention with every twist and turn. Highly sensual and elegant. Of course I'll bring a few others for variety :) . |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:06/02/2015 06:55:31Copy HTML I'll be in San Jose, CA for business next week. Unfortunately, my hotel doesn't have an outdoor pool, so I won't be tanning, but I plan to wear my MateGear Extremely Sexy Mini Bikinis at the pool. They're not thongs, but they show tons of crack and cheek. The backs are so low that they essentially just cup the bottom of my ass cheeks.
I may also take my Koala Polyamory bikini that has a small back that rises higher than the MateGear, but tapers to only a string before it gets completely to the bottom of your cheeks. This style causes it to plunge between the ass cheeks as a thong string just slightly before the bottom of your ass making it a good hybrid between a thong and a bikini. Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:06/02/2015 06:57:35Copy HTML I am located in Seattle and swim year around at the local YMCA. The Y is a conservative pool yet I always wear a standard Speedo solar, one size small so briefer and tighter. The interesting thing is that when I started I was the only one at all wearing a Speedo, others wore square cuts or larger... now about half of the pool users are sporting Speedos. I appear to have made others not ashamed by proudly wearing my suit despite my older (fit) body plus showing a definite visual tan line in the showers. As other writers have mentioned, it seems the female lifegaurds are the ones that enjoy seeing a male in a small suit.
Now that the weather is better, its time to go outside. Does anyone in the Seattle area know of places to tan with tiny suits, thongs, or nothing at all? Please let us all know of your favorite spots in the Seattle area. |

Re:What do you wear in a public swimming pool? Date Posted:09/25/2016 02:02:41Copy HTML These days I have taken to wearing a Snyder Kini to the local pool. As it says on the Snyder website - covers the essentials on the front and the back, bringing them together with a thin waistband.
