I had a look at some video clips, and found a couple that show minimal swimwear, from the eighties, which are very good.

Couldn't find any showing anyone wearing thongs, as obviously the video clips behond the eighties are dark, hate bright colours, portray people praising on crime, gangs, wearing basketball caps, baggy pants and jackets, moving their hands agressively in sort of rap body language, thanks to Eminem, 50 Cents and all these other crap "artists" that mostly sing about crime, homophobia, death,and treating and showing women like if all are cheap prostitutes.   Maybe a sign of the decadence of our recent times.

The nineties and first decade of the 21st century will be remembered as decades of darkeness in music and video music.   Unlike the eigthies, were light, bright colours, freedom, tolerance, in other words, a celebration of LIFE and happiness were the main focus.

The two video clips I found showing people wearing minimal swimwear are Elton John's "I'm still Standin" and Duran Duran's "Rio".

In "Im Still Standin" there is a particular scene were it shows male dancers (very masculine looking and not looking gay whatsoever) wearing tiny string bikinis (they were a revolution in the eighties,  very different to what happened to thongs that came up mostly beyond the eigthies and the rap-basketball trend helped to exterminate its promotion in music video clips).  Well, there is a part where these male dancers wearing string bikinis, jump on top of female dancers who are lying down on the sand of the beach, in a very artistic way. 

On Duran Duran's Rio, the show is stolen by this gorgeous tall girl, wearing colouful tiny swimwear, teasing Simon Lebon.  The colours, scenography couldn't be more beautiful (I think this video was filmed on the beaches of Sri Lanka) .  But there is also a part where Simon Lebon is walking backwards on a pier, steps on a banana skin and falls inthe water.  He's wearing a blue string bikini,  and this was maybe my inspiration to start wearing string bikinis back in the mid eighties.

I'm so happy I enjoyed the freedom of the eigthies, and now I'm old enough to be a thonger and be "unfashionable" and do not care to go against the trend, when the fashion and media try hardly to say that mimimal swimwear is definitely not on.

Even though I was a kid, I can remember Duran Durans 'Rio' and 'Girls on film' being MY inspiration from a very early age to wear minimal swimwear.
