Be brave every day. This afternoon a friend and I paddled the canals and river up to our fav waterfront coffee shop. I wore a thong as usual. We greeted everyone long the way, other paddle boarders, kayakers, boaters and people taking the sun in their backyards. Past the waterfront restaurant and to the coffee shop. I put on one of my rather transparent blue mesh running singlets when going inside to order, but no shorts. Busy staff greeted me by name, took our orders and I then had to pop in and out multiple times, to take her water, get our drinks, and later to get the food. Everyone was friendly. Nobody commented on my thong, even though most of the cliental are rather trendy: Women in city yoga spandex and men in black t-shirts. Then paddling back and around for the next couple our hours till we got back home.

This is somewhat odd as I've been wearing thong swimsuits to local pools, and at a beach or two for the past 4 years.The pools I've been at would be anywhere from just a handful of people and one lifeguard/receptionist to bustling with people, gym goers, kids etc. Had almost no issues most places except for the public poo, which after 2 years of swimming in a thong, I was told I wasn't allowed to wear something that was "showing too much in the back."

Since then, I've somewhat lost the boldness and daring I had while wearing the suit and have been more apprehensiveness and weary for wearing thong suits. But been slowly building back up to it.Point being I've been in full public view while wearing a thong swimsuit. 

Even with that, when it comes to my thong peeking out of top of my pants is something that I'm very uncomfortable with and still feel like I'd be mortified if someone seen it and very anxious about it. Which doesn't make any sense because it's not like I'm hiding it like it once used to. Possibly the whole context/environment thing, where being out in a public pool/beach I wouldn't even feel the slightest bit of being exposed etc... bu I'd be hiding and dodging being caught in a thong elsewhere, like if the curtains were open or poking out over my jeans.

All throughout the breakthrough of wearing thongs for swimming, being in a thong for a massage et is no longer exciting, like it used to be. Which was the rare occasion of excitement and sensuality I would feel, apart from just wearing a thong or looking at myself in it. That was the one rare moment I did want to be seen in a thong which was titillating. Mind you this was pre swim thongs in public.

Fast forward to today, I'd been going to a lady physiotherapist and being that thongs are my main underwear type, I'd wear it while going. Initially I thought I would have to be disrobed so kinda like a massage. But I wasn't too bothered about being in a thong.

But it was all done fully clothed and I never once had the notion of being seen in a thong.If anything, I was apprehensive, just like the thought of having my thong peek out.

That was until today when I was like, I want my thong to be riding up over my jeans and want it to be seen. Of course it's tricky knowing much much is visible and how someone would even react, if they seen it at all. 

The only option, apart from bending down to look at something or tie your shoe laces would be completed out of the question in a dr's office. But for the therapy session, I would be lying face down on the table for part of the session.

I had my thong slightly hiked over the top of my jeans and when lying down, my jumper and t-shirt are fairly short and would ride up. And instead of having it only slightly visible, it was a decent bit up, not too much to be blatant of course.

I checked at home before going how it would look like and I would need to lie down to make it happen.

And so I went in and made sure lay down and fully extended while lying down to make sure that my atleast the thong part, or the thong and straps would be visible. I'm fairly certain it worked, because after straightening my legs at the bottom, she was moving up to work on my glutes and check alignment  before adjjusting my hips and first thing she did was quite pointedly pull my shirt down firmly. So success :)

And while the rest of the adjustment was being done, the shirt automatically was getting pulled back up. So no audio confirmation but definitely did see it and possibly pulled my shirt down to either protect my "modesty" or being professional. Although I highly doubt if i was the waistband of briefs or boxers, it mightn't have been done.

Has anyone ever "traveled" just wearing a thong or g-string? What I mean, has anyone ridden in a Jeep with no doors, on a motorcycle, on a shuttle bus, in a golf cart, on a bike etc. in an unconventional location away from the beach? I have read a lot of comments where people walk from the parking lot to the beach wearing a thong or g-string. This question is more about being seen wearing next to nothing while riding in a vehicle where it would be unexpected. In another words, riding on Daytona Beach in a Jeep with no doors doesn't count. :)

I have seen brave women in Minneapolis going to their cars in g-strings and driving home.

In Germany I have heard that hippies would take the trams to the Englisher Garten NUDE in the 1970s. Of course, that is over with now that Muslims get offended.

P.S. I remember a picture from a German newspaper of a German woman exiting a Porsche and walking into a gas station nude to by smokes! Rare for Germans back in the day I am sure, but no one would think much of it. That was about 12 years ago!

Bonzo68, just this spring the wife and I spent a day at Ft DeSoto, we'd driven our Jeep there with the doors off. I always walk back to the parking area without covering up, butt this time I got in the Jeep and said screw it! Let's go. Wife said I should put in shorts, I said "I will" butt never did. We drove the entire 50 minute drive, took longer than normal due to evening rush hour traffic on the Skyway Bridge, bumper to bumper!!!! I stayed in just my thong all the way into our driveway! It felt great, so liberating!!!

Bicycling around town, running on the beach, paddle-boarding the waterways. On the bicycle I normally get lots of cheers but sometimes jeers. On the water it is all good. The water taxi gives me a wave, and some times their talkier points me out to passengers. The Jungle Queen gives me a toot on their whistle. The boats full of bachelorette parties cheer and sometimes flash their tits. Last Saturday we had about a dozen or more come paddle-boarding. Another thong wearing board member came along and of course I wore a thong, as did some of the women. It is about 3 miles up Middle River to the coffee-shop with a dock. We stop there for lunch. I was greeted enthusiastically by a staff member. The man in line behind us in the long line to order said to my friend, "It takes a confident man to wear that." Being brave takes practice. Wear a thong every chance you get and you will gain confidence.

For me, bravery is as simple as wearing a thong or form-fitting swimwear in places where swimwear belongs. That’s the goal: to feel comfortable in my own skin and enjoy the little time we have here on earth. The beach, the pool, watersports, lounging in the sun — those are the moments I want to be fully present for. The best feeling is being able to move from the hotel room to the pool to the beach and have it all feel normal, natural, and free.

Don't know if it fits the 'traveling' criteria, because it's beach related, but I have left home more than once for a day at the beach with no other clothing whatsoever besides the thong I wore, and maybe one or two extra to have a dry one to change into at the end of the day. I certainly don't have anything like an open-door Jeep, but did stop to deflate tyres before driving onto the sand, and then re-inflating them at the local service station on the way home. Sometimes this also includes going to a self-serve car wash to rinse my vehicle down with a spray hose, or ducking into a shop for a cold drink.

I posted this on the Hollywood Beach thread but it is relevant here. I spent two days in Hollywood Beach and stayed at the Hollywood Beachside Boutique Suites. Nice place with a pool and every room opens directly to the outside, no hallways or lobbies to contend with. Once I got there, I put on a C-string and a waist chain.
Spent the day sitting on a beach chair, walking the boardwalk, shopping and having lunch at the Lone Palm Beach Bar. Later in the afternoon I had a drink at the bar in the Venice Restaurant.
The second day I did the same thing in a baggie and chain and enjoyed both breakfast (Ocean Alley) and lunch (Taco Joint). I walked over a mile on the broadwalk and shopped in a few of the stores, where I bought sunscreen and flip flops.
The only time either day when I wore anything more than a C-string or baggie was when I went to dinner at a restaurant away from the beach.

then put on a somewhat transparent top and went for coffee and meet with friends before returning home. 

Brave means thonging publicly, openly, as if it is just part of life.  This picture is from about 20 years ago.

Once you get over everyone knowing you wear a thong then bravery becomes a lot easier.
 

JM, you raise a fascinating thought. After you become comfortable with wearing a thong in public, in a coffee shop or restaurant, etc. is it bravery anymore? The person wearing a thong for the first time on a crowded beach can be considered braver than we are.

Bmicro ... when you were in Hollywood wearing the baggie walking diwn the boardwalk, shopping, and eating ... did you carry your personal items in your hands (phone, wallet, blanket, sunscreen, etc) or did you tote them along in a separate carry bag?

I have a BUBM electronic accessory travel bag that has proven to be perfect for everything but a towel which I usually leave on the beach I can tuck it under my arm or carry it in my hand

@bmicro Wow. You are leaving absolutely nothing for the imagination when wearing some of your suits. I am hoping someday to wear a the-bikini.com mesh tear drop g-string (https://the-bikini.com/the-shop/mens-g-strings-thongs/men-tear-drop/) on a beach somewhere in South Florida. I was thinking the only textile beach I could probably wear it is on South Beach. If you are able to wear what you are wearing on Hollywood Beach, I am beginning to think I can wear a mesh tear drop g-string on any South Florida beach, starting in Fort Lauderdale and all beaches going south to Miami. I am not sure of any beaches in the keys. @Everyone on this forum I read this forum often to read about everyone's individual success (or failures) in wearing thongs and g-strings in public. I would welcome any feedback from any forum members as to the most minimal suit, in combination with the thinnest and sheerest fabric; anyone has worn on each beach in South Florida. By the way, Haulover doesn't count. :) I have read about people wearing baggies and c-strings in a different thread. Therefore, I think I know how small I can go based on other people’s experiences. My question is more about how sheer of a fabric has anyone worn, especially when dry, has anyone worn on a textile beach with no issues. Most of the suits I own have different levels of sheerness when wet and this is to be expected, especially when all my suits are unlined. My solid fabric suits are so thin they practically dry by the time I walk from the water to my towel. Not many people are going to notice me during the minute it takes to get back to my towel. It's more about laying out for hours at a time, walking the beach for hours on end, riding a bike, walking to the restroom, flying a kite, going to a food vendor, etc. when my suit is dry. Also, has anyone ever worn a mesh thong or g-string at Fantasy Fest? I am thinking about going there in a couple years and would like to wear my tear drop g-strings. I just don't know if I could wear the mesh fabric. I guess what I am asking, what is the definition of being covered in South Florida, and what is accepted by the general population? It's one thing to have the genitals covered, but does the fabric need to be opaque or can brave souls venture onto the beach wearing sheer or mesh fabrics and still be within the law?

There's brave and there's stupid! Being stupid causes you and other thong wearers future troubles. Those of us posting our brave experiences are "experienced" and have been there enough to know what works. "mesh" suits can be anywhere from no viz to very sheer so more specifics are needed. Thus my INSANE score-(I Now See Anatomy Nearly Exposed)- so how many feet away you can see anatomy thru the fabric. That's important if you're on a "crowded" or "open" beach- and also how close people will pass you and how often. "be within the law" is a broad statement- in a courtroom this is different from the real world- and the real world differs on many beaches. "expected" or "tolerated" or "encouraged" or "invited" mean different things and speak to the vibe of thongs or less in a location. So I am lately tending to fewer people, farther people with tolerance expected. Wearing the INSANE 80 fishnet mesh suit means fewer people farther away- staying on the towel, not walking around - and worn among those who won't likely be offended (tolerate) or who move closer or stare (expected/encourage) INSANE 10 mesh G strings seem tolerated more widely as reported. Lately I've worn some fabric that when wet will DISAPPEAR (Damn I See All Penis Parts Everything All Right) so wet is different. The type of suit--I call them "alternative structure suits" matters too-- so baggie, C string, Slingshot, sling string usually means toleration not legality. "definition of being covered" varies widely based on who's saying and can't be answered.

These are my "staple" gstring. It's fairly opaque when dry but semi-sheer when wet. I've worn these on beaches in West Palm, Boca Raton, and all of Miami Beach in addition to Caspersen & Fort DeSoto beaches on the west FL coast. Yes I've worn the yellow mesh swirlfashion G string on Miami Beach many times at many locations this color is INSANE 30 dry 50 wet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/182992054895 So to sum it up you have to "read the room" decide what others who see you will accept or expect. Then you have to decide how they will react if not accepting- call 911, talk to a lifeguard etc. These factors vary by location, town, time of year and daily variances. Last week on a weekday I went to a S Fla beach which usually is sparse to isolated on summer days and found no one was around for almost 1/4mile. Wearing an INSANE 30 suit I thought "I am overdressed". After an hour a couple then a guy walked by passing about 10 ft away- so things change. One way I deal with wearing an INSANE 100 and someone is passing closely is to roll over on my stomach- now can't see the fabric or what's not hidden. I especially wear suits which don't have the same mesh or net fabric on the sides or back so that they have no clue seeing me from the back! Two other caveats to "who will react- who is tolerant"- for a guy wearing a see thru suit it seems other guys don't care and specifically gay guys don't care! Difficult to read if female beach walkers would be "cool"- seems 60-70 year old women walking alone are fine- or approving- but 30-50 year olds are potential INSANE karens. If I was a female guys walking by probably wouldn't react by calling the po po but other "church lady" types sure would! One more point is that many of my sheerest INSANE 80 G strings don't really have the smallest pouches. Since it's all tan thru it doesn't matter- and from outside the INSANE zone they look more conservative! Same with "big hole fishnet"- from afar they look larger!

sailor250 is right. You have to know the beach in and out including the "vibe" and the method of enforcement. In Florida, except where there are local laws, the requirement is that the genitals must be covered with a fully opaque covering. This means that an opaque baggie is probably the least that is legal.

When I was wearing a form fitting but opaque baggie on Miami Beach I had a police patrol on their ATV (one male one female) stop me and tell me that while what I was wearing was OK, I might expect to be bothered by other patrols if someone reports a "nude man walking down the beach". Therefore, I regularly wear a waist chain or some other strap so that I don't look nude from the rear. 

Unless I am very experienced with a beach, I will not wear anything more revealing than a baggie and that only with some experience with g-strings. For example, I had been going to Hollywood Beach for many years before I got confident enough to wear a C-string and a baggie there. I always research the local laws at a beach that is new to me.

I have rarely been stopped or otherwise been bothered when wearing something more revealing on South Beach. When I have, I have been politely told that someone complained and asked to wear something more. I know that if this happens too often in the same place within a short period of time that I might have a problem.

Many years ago there were a couple of online forums I subscribed to, one for thong wearers, one for nudists and one for streakers. (For the youngin's Streeking was a thing about running nude.) When they suddenly went off line we started this forum as a stopgap, which then became a permanent temporary solution. A big problem with the prior forums is some pervs were not as much interested in a good overall tan as they were in flashing and then claiming they were not. This forum is about legal thonging, not about getting off on how much you can flash or upset people. When you live somewhere you get to know what is accepted, and more importantly the locals get to know you too. They greet you in the morning, call you by name, discuss the weather and ask after your mother. People seeing locals are calm and friendly around you then realize you are not a threat to them or their children. The problem comes when strangers ask exactly how little they can get away with regarding baggies or see through thongs. It seems like some wish to flash their junk, with the plausible deniability of "The internet told me that was ok here." I am quite sure I have more thongs than anyone on this forum, but you won't see me on the beach in a bagge, or large hole mesh thong. Many of my thongs are small g-strings but all have some form of waist and read string. Not only do the string show I am not naked when viewed from the side or rear, but it helps to keep things from flopping around. With due respect to some members of this forum, I think people wearing baggies, rocket thongs or similar are mostly peacocking. If you want to go nude, just go nude, or go to a nudist beach. If you want an overall tan wear a thong or g-string with string sides. I don't buy the defense that g-strings must leave tan lines. Unless you do all your tanning for the year in just one day - thin side strings won't leave lasting tan lines. Just ask anyone who has tried to develop sharp tan lines, keeping a string side in the exact same place is well-nigh impossible. Unless kept in place by being too tight, in which case the string digging in makes you look like a trussed up sunday roast. You can wear a different one next day so the tiny-tiny shadow from the side string falls in a different place. I have an overall tan with no side strap tan marks and never wear a baggie. Thong boldly, publicly, confidently - - - but don't go to someone else's town and use thonging as a veiled excuse for discrete flashing. Unless you really are an adonis try hard not to peacock. You might not get into trouble, but some condo comandos may start to say "There ought to be a law." That's how some very good nude beaches and thong friendly places got shut down. (That and nefarious affairs in the dunes). I would much rather see you in a thong or g-string that allows you to walk comfortably down a crowded beach - than havening to roll over on your towel when walkers or the authorities pass by. Confident, bravely, openly - Not furtive.

Peacocking means binge-watching a certain Comcast streaming service-- No in this context it means acting like a male peacock spreading it's tail piece- ah he's just showing off! When there's talk of negative things happening when wearing something we know there are "issues" like comments or someone trying to impose their good taste on everyone - then there's enforcement as in stopping "illegal" activity. I'm interested in avoiding both! I don't want to go to a beach or pool and have others silently or loudly ridicule me! I don't want to have a talk or worse with a lifeguard or law enforcement officer. When someone here asks "would this be OK?" it's too broad to answer this question.

Personally I think that most of the time if someone is asking “is this ok or would this be ok,” it’s already known that it most likely is not ok for general consumption. I do believe there are places and times that boundaries can and should be pushed, but not all the time and everywhere. For example, Fantasy Fest in Key West, Florida boundaries can be pushed a bit more than say a beach in Indiana. I’ve worn some of my more interesting thongs and costumes at Fantasy Fest. I wouldn’t do that around home as it would cause too much unwanted attention. As brave as I get at my home beaches is walking to and from my car wearing a thong and walking the shoreline. In general water related experiences. When I am out on vacation/holiday I’ll walk through the hotel with a sheer cover that clearly shows my thong, especially if it is a beachside resort. I also will openly do that on a cruise ship. I’m not wearing anything that anyone would not recognize as swimwear.

It s really hard to know what is acceptable. Because there is a double standard. a lot of pearl clutching if a guy is in a thong around kids but girls posing in micro teardrop g strings with clear straps while in a packed pool with kids while holding a baby is just fine. It really just doesn't make logical sense and is hard to justify

My post was not offend anyone for what they may wear at the beach. My post was more about the different fabrics that are always opaque when dry and wet, opaque when dry and semi-sheer when wet, semi-sheer when dry and practically invisible when wet, and fishnet or mesh materials that are see-through when dry. It just seems most, if not all, beaches in South Florida are very tolerant when it comes to very minimal swimwear on both women and men. My question was to ask how tolerant are the beaches for people that wear thongs in fabrics that are already see-through when dry. I was merely wanting to know if mesh, not fishnet, thongs have been seen on the beaches in South Florida when the wearer was on semi-crowded to crowded beach. Does the general population accept it or is it a “red flag” for the authorities to be involved? I have never been to a beach in South Florida and I hope to visit soon. I just don’t know what to expect, both as an observer and wearer of thongs and g-strings. By no means am I looking to be an exhibitionist nor would I ever peacock wearing any thong or g-string. Per JM_Runs advice, I always try to be doing an activity like walking along the shoreline (not through the crowds), riding a bike, flying a kite, etc. I think the activity provides some level of credibility to being seen in a swimsuit, albeit a minimal swimsuit.
