troyboy, not from personal experience but I have it from a good source who was there in 2009 that men and women are just fine with thongs on all the beaches. as with the great majority of mexican beaches thongs are tolerated. In mazatlan I understand from the same friends that they did not see any top free much less total nudity but the small number of non-mexican tourists who went with a thong were well treated and accepted on the beaches. hope that helps

 Anybody have any updated information on Mazatlan? Were interested in checking it out if it is more or less friendly for thongers, male or female and topfree.

 Going to Mazatlan April 20-27. Does anyone know of any cool beaches more off the beaten path? I'm fine thonging on regular beaches but prefer more secluded ones for super chill relaxing in my minimal swimwear.

 Any thongers going to be in Mazatlan April 20-27? Would be cool to see some other guys sporting minimal thong swimwear on the beach.

 I was just there for a week and stayed north of the main city or Golden Zone in what is called The New Mazatlan. We were there from Easter Sunday through the following Sunday, so many Mexican families were still on break - even so the beach out here was not crowded at all and was really nice with big surf and a wide sandy beach that goes on for miles.

My partner, who is from Mexico, was a little freaked out with me thonging here as the people are generally very conservative, however I wasn't about to let other people's social issues dictate what I wore to the beach on my tropical vacation. Judging from their dress on the beach I would agree. Most males and females wore a ridiculously amount of cover up. Nonetheless I wore my 1/2" Muscleskins Classic pouch thong to the beach daily and mostly wore it to and from the water to swim. I wore a 1" Aussiebum for cover up to walk the beach and similar speedo-type suits on the rare trip to the condo pool out of respect for the family environment.

Over the week I saw one other guy and one woman in a thong and one guy walking the beach in a very skimpy bikini and a couple guys in speedos, including my husband. While on the beach I was approached by some girls who were curious about me in my thong. My husband spoke to them and they left - he said they weren't used to seeing people in thongs. He wore shorts on day 1 and after realizing the world wouldn't end if he wore his speedo, opted for a small speedo the rest of the trip.

Overall a great trip. For anyone going I would recommend staying North of the city in the area we were in. The beach is really nice and fine for thonging. I would have preferred a more adult environment but the condo was great. I will post a couple pics soon.
